On behalf of the Management of BC Networks Innovation Hub, Our beloved late mother and grandmother, Alhaja Asmau Owolewa (May Allah have mercy on her. Ameen), in recognition of her outstanding contributions to youth development and her unwavering support for initiatives that empower young people will be honored with the "Digital Skills for Youth (DS4Y) Champion Award" (Posthumous), at the commissioning of BC Networks Innovation Hub, on the 6th of June, 2026
Alhaja Asmau Owolewa was more than a mother to her immediate family, she was a guiding light to many of us. From our early years, even during our primary school days, she nurtured, encouraged, and inspired us, earning the affectionate name “Mother of All (Momomi).” Her values of hard work, diligence, and creativity remain deeply rooted in us and continue to shape our journey in addressing global challenges.
Today, as the digital economy continues to reshape the global employment landscape, young people remain central to both the present and future workforce. However, many still lack the job-ready digital skills required to thrive. In response, BC Networks launched the Digital Skills for Youth (DS4Y) initiative in 2013, with a clear vision to bridge this gap and empower 4 million youth by 2030.
Thirteen years later, that vision is steadily becoming a reality. To date, we have successfully trained and empowered over 2 million young people, equipping them with practical digital skills for career growth, entrepreneurship, and global relevance.
As we celebrate over a decade of impact, we recognize that this journey would not have been possible without the foundational values, support, and inspiration of remarkable individuals like Alhaja Asmau Owolewa. Her legacy of love, discipline, and encouragement continues to inspire our mission and the lives we touch.
In recognition of her enduring impact, we are proud to confer on her the "Digital Skills for Youth (DS4Y) Champion Award (Posthumous): at our upcoming 13th Anniversary Celebration and Commissioning of the BC Networks Innovation Hub.
