BC Networks is proud to honor Professor Omenogo Veronica Mejabi with the Digital Skills for Youth (DS4Y) Champion Award in recognition of her unwavering support for youth development and her lifelong commitment to advancing digital inclusion among young people.
The award will be presented on June 6, 2026, during the 13th Anniversary Celebration of BC Networks and the commissioning of its ultra-modern Digital Skills Innovation Hub.
Professor Omenogo Veronica Mejabi is a distinguished academic and ICT expert who retired as a Professor from the Department of Information Technology, University of Ilorin. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Ibadan, an MSc and MBA from Aston University, United Kingdom, and a PhD from the University of Ilorin.
Over the course of her illustrious career, she served in several key administrative roles, including Head of the Management Information Systems (MIS) Unit (1995–2008) and Acting Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences (2008–2009). She has extensive experience in ICT services, research, and teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Her research interests span social informatics, information systems management, and ICT for development, with a strong focus on leveraging technology for societal advancement.
Professor Mejabi is widely respected for her deep passion for youth development and her commitment to nurturing the next generation of ICT innovators. She has consistently encouraged young people to pursue excellence in technology and innovation.
Notably, she identified and mentored BC Networks’ Co-Founder, Bisi Owolewa, during his early engagement at the CBT Centre, University of Ilorin. Her mentorship extended beyond the classroom, including recommending him to the Japanese Government during his doctoral studies in Malaysia an indication of her belief in developing global talent.
Her lifelong vision has been to see millions of young, talented ICT innovators emerge, a mission she actively pursued until her retirement on May 23, 2024, which was marked by a distinguished Inaugural Lecture hosted by the University of Ilorin.
