BC Networks Sets to honor Ex. ECOWAS Diplomat, Dr. Monisoye Sola Afolabi with "Digital Skills 4 Youth Champion Award"

Dr. Afolabi Sola Monisoye will be recognized and honored at the commissioning of BC Networks Innovation Hub Complex and 13 years anniversary celebration, coming June 6, 2026 with the "Digital Skills 4 Youth Champion Award"
This award recognizes and celebrates individuals whose outstanding contributions have driven the company's growth and played a vital role in advancing the development of youg people at large.
Dr. Afolabi Sola Monisoye in recognition of his exceptional contributions to Information Technology, academic excellence, human capital development and regional integration in West Africa will be recognized and honored with the BC Networks "Digital Skills 4 Youth Champion Award" also for his unwavering support for youth development and his strong commitment to advancing digital inclusion coming June 6, 2026 at the 13 years anniversary of the company and commissioning of its ultra modern Digital Skills Innovation Hub.
Dr. Afolabi is a highly respected Nigerian scholar and administrator from Omupo in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State. With a professional career spanning over three decades, he has made remarkable impacts as an academic, computer scientist, diplomat, and international development expert.
He served as the pioneer Director of the Community Computer Centre of ECOWAS, where he played a key role in advancing ICT development across the region. He also held the position of Director of Business Environment at the USAID West Africa Trade Hub in Accra, Ghana, and served as Acting Deputy Executive Secretary of ECOWAS in charge of integration programmes, among other notable roles.
Dr. Afolabi is widely recognized for championing youth development through information technology and for his contributions to improving the business environment and fostering regional cooperation in West Africa. His work has significantly influenced trade facilitation, ICT advancement, and economic integration across the region.
In recognition of his exemplary service and impact, he has received several honors from both national and international bodies, including commendation from the Kwara State Government and leading development organizations such as the USAID West Africa Trade Hub and the African Partnership Project.
Dr. Afolabi’s academic journey has equally motivated many of us at BC Networks as a First Class Student in Mathematics. After earning a First Class degree in Mathematics from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 1973, he was awarded a Canadian Commonwealth Scholarship to the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, where he obtained a Master of Mathematics (M.Math) in Computer Science (1976) and a Ph.D. in Computer Science (1979).
Notably, Dr. Afolabi has facilitated employment opportunities for many of our young people and has consistently provided invaluable professional guidance and mentorship to BC Networks. His support has contributed meaningfully to the growth of our organization and the success of our beneficiaries.
